DAY 1: Arrival in Sofia. Transfer to a hotel. Overnight in Sofia.
DAY 2: Breakfast. City tour of Sofia including St. Nedelya Sq., St George Rotunda (4th c.), the Presidential Office Building, the National Theatre, the City Garden, Russian Church St. Nicolas, the Parliament Square, the St. Alexander Nevski Memorial Cathedral with the most valuable collection of Bulgarian Icons (13-19th c), St. Sofia Church (6th c). Time at leisure. Overnight in Sofia.
DAY 3: Breakfast. Morning departure for Koprivshtitza town situated in the heart of the Sredna Gora Mountain Range. Tour in the town famous for its numerous museums, old stone bridges and walls, wooden yard gates, more than 120-year-old buildings and courtyards in their original colours. Continue to Veliko Tarnovo - the capital of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. Time at leisure. Overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.
DAY 4: Breakfast. Tour of Veliko Tarnovo town with visit to the medieval fortress of Tsarevets; the Old Marketplace, Samovodska Tcharshia; and some other landmarks. In the afternoon - arrival in the village of Arbanassi. Visit to the Nativity Church and Konstantsaliev's House. Overnight in Veliko Turnovo.
DAY 5: Breakfast. Departure for Etara - Bulgaria's open-air museum of authentic traditional crafts, created to preserve the appearance and the spirit of the old time Bulgarian mountain villages and the manufacturing traditions of the region for the future generations. Visit to the Memorial Church of Shipka, erected after Bulgaria's Liberation from Turkish rule as a monument of both Russian and Bulgarian soldiers who died in the fierce battles there. The tour continues with a visit to the Thracian Tomb in Kazanluk (a UNESCO site).
Departure for Plovdiv. Overnight in Plovdiv.
DAY 6: Breakfast. Tour of the Old Town of the city of Plovdiv - an imposing open-air museum, situated on the three hills of the ancient Trimontium. Visit to the Ancient Theatre (a well-preserved Roman amphitheatre), the Ethnographic Museum, and some other interesting sites. Departure for the Bachkovo Monastery - one of the oldest monasteries in the Bulgarian lands. This monastery is the second largest in the country. It is mainly known for its original architecture, rich collections of old icons, jewelry, coins, and church plate. Return to Plovdiv. Overnight..
DAY 7: Breakfast. Departure for the Rila Monastery - the most famous and the most fascinating monastery in Bulgaria, under UNESCO protection. Tour of the monastery and visit to the monastery church, museum, and kitchen, known as Magernitsa. Evening arrival in Sofia. Overnight.
DAY 8: Breakfast. Free time and departure transfer.
